Accountability Courts

The Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit utilizes several voluntary programs to provide effective alternatives to sentencing to reduce recidivism and reduce the economic impacts of incarceration by addressing the underlying cause of illegal behavior through a more therapeutic approach than traditional practices alone.

The Mission Statement of the Cherokee County DUI/Drug Court is to protect the public safety, and reduce the criminal recidivism rate of repeat DUI offenders through an integrated approach that involves court supervision, substance abuse treatment services, and personal accountability, resulting in positive and long lasting life changes.

To make Cherokee County safer and healthier, by providing intensive treatment and accountability for felony offenders with chemical dependency, improving the quaility of life for all its citizens.

The Cherokee County Family Treatment Court was established to improve the lives of children and families impacted by the substance abuse of the parent or caregiver through the coordinated services of the Juvenile Court and appropriate treatment programming.

The Juvenile Drug Treatment Court is designed to supervise non-violent drug dependent youth.

The Parental Accountability Court Program seeks to remove the underlying issues that cause noncustodial parents to become chronic non-payers of child support.

The Cherokee County Treatment Accountability Court is an accountability court program that seeks to benefit the community by providing intensive treatment services to persons who are facing criminal charges due, in part, to untreated or undertreated mental illness.

Cherokee County Veterans Treatment Court (CCVTC) seeks to divert eligible veteran defendants with substance dependency and/or mental illness that are charged with criminal offenses, to a specialized criminal court. 

The Cherokee County Drug Lab facilitates drug and alcohol testing in coordination with the Cherokee County Court System and the Cherokee County Accountability Courts.
